Datum: 28 oktober 2015 Geschreven door: admin vr.nl In:

The Libre Virtual Reality Meeting is a meeting organised by F/LAT during the “Festival des Arts Numériques”, gathering artists, engineers, scientists, students and any other interested person to discover the open sources solutions and techniques for VR, in software and hardware. This event will hold workshops to get hands-on the free / libre – Open-source technologies, and offers demonstration of ongoing development project using these. We’ll have also in demonstration an open hardware headset developped by Sensics inc. and Razer, that is available now in precommand. This 2 days event is long enough so we can take time to experiment with ideas brought by the participants, and explore the bugs and hacks to go into uncharted territories.

VR/AR for space and exhibition can also be discussed, with a workshop on multi-kinect data collection, and blenderVR being usable with Cave setup or Headset.

VR for the Web is also part of the workshop proposition, as WebVR, while still a young technology, has already very interesting working exemples and future use.

Open source and Free/libre technologies and culture are a key element for our digital age, and this event wll help gather attention and knowledge on those open solutions for VR.

UITSPRAAK OVER VR

"To begin with, Virtual Reality is a part of computer science and it represents a new approach to computer science. Instead of treating the computer as a box that's out there that is supposed to accomplish something, you put a human being in the center and say, "Let's look at the human being closely. Let's see how people perceive the world or how they act. Let's design a computer to fit very closely around them, like a glove, you might say. Let's match up the technology to exactly what people are good at.""
