And lastly we will dive into how the HoloLens provides mixes the virtual world with the real world. After the presentations there is an optional break-out session on VR coaching.
And of course (as always) during this meetup there will be lots of time to get to know all the attendees and share knowledge with each other!
Looking forward to having you at this meetup!
Presentations:
Standing on the Mount Everest
Mount Everest, in 1996 there was the first IMAX film on the south side.
In 2006 there were the first GoPro’s on the mountain and in 2016 we had the first VR expedition on the North side produced by VR Explorers (vr-explorers.com) based in Amsterdam!
Przemek Siemion (camera) and Zbigniew Wolny (sound) were fighting brutal storms high on the mountain, freezing temperatures, frostbite and death! Two months later they returned home with a successful summit and tons of footage. They will share their experiences of producing in one of the most extra ordinary places on earth!
Controlling Avatars realistically in VR
Many virtual reality applications do not have an avatar because it is hard to do this realistically. How do you derive the position of all body parts from just one (head) or three (head and hands) trackers in a realistic way? Pascal Serrarens of Passer VR (http://passervr.com) will discuss the challenges and solutions for this and show you the latest generation of avatar control which can be used by developers to get realistic interactive human interaction in their applications.
Welcome to the Future
Dennis Vroegop (http://www.vroegop.org/) wil talk about how the HoloLens is more than Virtual Reality. Virtual Reality, or VR in short, is replacing the real world with a virtual one. This usually means you wear a device that replaces everything you see with a computer generated world. The experience is extremely powerful: your brain accepts this illusion and you really feel part of this imaginary world. However, with Augmented Reality such as the one HoloLens provides, the virtual world is mixed with the real world.
Break-out session VR Coaching (20.15 – 21.00)
For those who are interested during a break-out session of a VR coaching company that will present how they are using VR for coaching:
SonoVR presentation by Nadja Muller-den Blijker:
(Sono)VR is setting a new standard for coaching & therapy with virtual and augmented reality (VR & AR). They take people to amazing experiences to unlock their full potential.
They are pushing the boundaries by bringing VR & AR to professional coaching and other therapy forms. SonoVR wants therapists and coaches to be 100% successful in helping their clients to reach their full potential.
Startup Captain VR: From coach to Virtual Reality Coach
CaptainVR is a coaching/tech Startup with the ambition to become the best and biggest Virtual Reality training center for coaches, trainers, therapists, etc in the Netherlands.
CaptainVR is currently looking for more trainers and coaches to get involved, preferably those with specializations in certain fields. By including Business Coaches, for example, we can collaborate in making applications that will help business people to become more skilled and effective in their work; such as presentation- and pitch training for selling products and services.
On a more personal level, coaching with Virtual Reality is proven to be one of the most effective ways to overcome phobias and anxieties.
