[—Due to a personal emergency, we’ll be cancelling this event and re-scheduling for another date shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience—]
Following the success of our first sold-out event “Introduction to Sound for Virtual Reality”, we’re hosting two more sessions at the XR Base for all of you who were unable to attend before.
With all the emphasis on visual processing in VR, audio has become increasingly lacking by comparison. Although most 3D audio concepts have been around for decades, interest in 3D audio has only really resurfaced recently due to the emersion of new immersive formats for cinema and the advent of Virtual Reality. Major advances in gaming technologies, such as cost-effective head-tracking and immersive visual headsets have paved the way for commercially viable virtual reality to be delivered to the individual. Now, consumers finally have the opportunity to experience new gaming, cinematic and social media experiences with truly immersive and interactive 3D audio and video content.
Whether you’re a novice, audiophile, or a seasoned professional in the field of VR, our experts will provide a valuable introduction to our educational programme, delving into the techniques and tools necessary for a truly immersive 3D audio production in cinematic, documentary, commercial, musical, game-based & room-scale VR experiences.
This course will be led by the founder of Future Phonic Studios – Richard Burki, the educational manager of Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam – Robin Reumers, the author of “Modern Recording Techniques” and 4X Grammy-nominated producer & musician for surround sound – David-Miles Huber, and Tom Pearce – head of game music publishing at Stadium Red, who has toured and recorded with Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and other major artists back in the 80s and 90s.
This 2-hour interactive lecture and discussion will also provide attendees with the opportunity to sign up for an in-depth 2-day workshop organized by Future Phonic Studios and Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam launching March 2018. The programme will include lectures held at XR Base and hands-on practical exercises, examples, demos, and listening sessions in a state-of-the-art recording studio at Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam.
Drinks & snacks will be provided by the XR Base.
